I have been doing this a long time now and what I have learned to do is listen when I talk to UI designers to understand what motivates their work. An average UI designer will always mention
• Attractiveness
• Responsiveness
• Familiarity
Peter fits these into his work but he goes deeper. He is the first UI designer I have worked with that focuses on what I call the three Cs. Clarity, Conciseness, and Consistency.
• Clarity helps prevent user errors, makes important information clear and gives a perfect user experience. Clarity means the information content is conveyed accurately.
• Conciseness means something can be explained without sparing extra words and since we are always fighting for screen realestate being consise is important to me.
• Consistency enables users to develop usage patterns which will make them learn what the different buttons, tabs, icons and other interface elements look like thereby easily recognizing them in the future.
I loved his work and more importantly enjoyed working with him.
