Successful UX/UI and Accessibility design needs to be more than just following the flow of what other designers do or what an off-the-shelf platform delivers. Successful UX/UI design similarly requires more than mere flowcharts and wireframes. In short, it requires a lot of work in order to achieve optimal results: research, creating and re-creating user and application flows, conceptualization, prototyping, additional research, and then finally: getting it spot on!
My name is Peter Zuidema, and I've been an Interaction Designer (ID) since 1993- when I participated in the first official full-time academic course in Interaction and Usability Design in the world at The University of the Arts Utrecht in the Netherlands. I've been active in this field ever since. I have a long and productive history of helping both small companies and a goodly number of major enterprises, including multinationals, in the fields of Finance, Healthcare, and Education- both in Europe as well as the USA, where I moved to with my family in late 2005.
My passion is to take a raw concept and then tailor it specifically to the people who plan to use it with a lot of research, by listening to them, and learning from them. This entails a lot of 'reading between the lines' - as most people are able to point out problems, but not how to make things right! My specialty is employing application and user flowcharts, as well as developing prototypes, in order to be able to demonstrate my solution to building the application in question.
However, my experience doesn't end there, for I was thoroughly trained in ALL facets of Interaction and Usability design. From setting up and operating a solid usability lab and communicating with users, with project stakeholders, and employing graphic (UX) design and creating prototypes of various concepts (sometimes with the correct tool, but often purely hard-coded - both front and back-end). When any project leaves my hands, it is thus ready, and able, to be put into production.
In addition, I have over a decade of leadership experience with my own UX/UI design and development teams. I am a highly competent and experienced leader within this field, and have a firm grasp of all the required management skills. This includes assigning the right people for the right UX/UI work in order to make certain that what comes out of our team is a rock solid production - fully supported by the project manager(s), developers, and content writers, within or outside of an Agile environment.
This is my job, and I love it. And after 25+ years - I still love it every single day.
The fact that I am good at it is not just my opinion, but is supported and confirmed by the large number of glowing recommendations from former clients and employers, colleagues, and my previous team members.
